Our Story: Handcrafted Candles Rooted in Southern Elegance

Hello, my name is Senell, and my family's roots in New Orleans run deep through generations. I was raised in the heart of the 9th Ward, where I learned the beauty of family, community, and uplifting one another to reach new heights. Some of my fondest memories were wandering through the charming boutiques and lively markets near the French Quarter, where every corner carried music, warmth, and celebration. New Orleans has always had a way of turning ordinary moments into beautiful memories.

As a true Southern Belle, I always dreamed of creating something elegant and meaningful of my own. When my family moved to Atlanta in 1985, it was both a culture shock and an inspiring new beginning that broadened my vision of what was possible. This journey ultimately led me to create handcrafted candles that capture the essence of Southern elegance and timeless beauty.

How Senola Candles Was Born

In 2021, our candle-making journey began as a heartfelt hobby, creating handcrafted candles for family and close friends. Over time, we carefully explored a variety of scents, wax blends, and wick styles before falling in love with the soft crackle of wooden wick candles — a sound that brings an immediate sense of comfort, calm, and luxury into any space.

There is something deeply soothing about lighting a candle, opening a MacBook, and settling into a quiet evening filled with reflection and peace. I often think back to classic films where candlelight gently illuminated homes after sunset, creating an atmosphere that felt intimate, warm, and timeless. That nostalgia inspired me to become a chandler and pour my heart into every hand-poured candle creation. Each of our luxury soy candles and small batch candles is thoughtfully crafted with love, intention, and a touch of Southern elegance. My hope is that every flame brings comfort, serenity, and a sense of home to those who experience it — just as it has for me and my family.
